BBCCI hosts dinner in honour of Bangladesh Ambassador to UN
On 24th May 2015, the BBCCI hosted a dinner in honour of His Excellency Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations at the Atrium, London.
The event was a great success and was attended by BBCCI office holders and directors, members, business people the media.
The speakers were His Excellency Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, M. Noor Miah, Acting President BBCCI, Mohib Uddin Choudhry, Director General, BBCCI, Sayedur Rahman Ranu JP, Finance Director, Muquim Ahmed, Director & Former President, Bashir Ahmed, London Region President, BBCCI, Enam Ali MBE FIH, Advisor & Director BBCCI, Shahagir Bakth Faruk MSC FRSPH, Advisor & Former President BBCCI.
In his speech the ambassador praised the BBCCI and the Directors for their great work in promoting business between Britain and Bangladesh.
Commenting on the reception, M. Noor Miah, Acting President, said:
"We are honoured and delighted to host a dinner in honour of His Excellency Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, the Ambassador and Permanent Represenative of Bangladesh to the United Nations. We look forward to working with him and the Bangladesh Government to enhance trade & investment between the U.K. and Bangladesh."
Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen is the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations. He is currently the Chair of the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly. He was also the Vice President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council for 2011-2012 sessions. In addition, he is the coordinator for NAM Peacebuilding Caucus of the UN. In 2010, he was the facilitator for the UN Counter Terrorism Strategy Review as well as the President of the UNICEF Executive Board.
Prior to coming to the Harvard University as a Ford Foundation and Mason Fellow to pursue higher education in 1978, he worked in the Bangladesh civil service.
Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen is a writer and an activist. He has written two books and published over 250 Academic papers and articles. He has a PhD in economics and an MBA in Business Administration from the Northeastern University (Boston) and an MPA in Public Administration, Public Policy and International Economics from the Harvard University (Cambridge), LLB in Law, an MA in development economics and a BA from the University of Dhaka.
